CSEPAC's Zen Den is a sensory friendly play space for children (and adults!) who need a place to relax during busy community wide events.
CSEPAC has volunteered at several school wide functions:
- Byam School Association Walk-A-Thon
- Byam School Association Sweetheart Dance
- Center School Trunk-or-Treat
- Parker's Pride Run (coming in June 2019!)
What does the Zen Den look like?
We bring a pop-up tent with a privacy wall. Activities can be customized to match your event's theme. Lego blocks, bubbles, and fidget toys are staple parts of our Zen Den kit. We've also provided customized sensory bins, yoga, coloring, sensory bottles, and comfortable seating options.
Who uses the Zen Den?
The Zen Den is available for any event attendee who would like to use the space. It is a favorite among families that have small children who need more open ended play and elementary aged children. We can customize activities for any age group.
How do we book the Zen Den for our community wide event?
To schedule the Zen Den, send an email to [email protected]. Please include the date, time, theme, location of the event, and sponsoring organization of the event. It is also helpful for us to know approximately how many participants attend.
How far in advance do we need to book the Zen Den?
Requests to book the Zen Den at your event should be made several weeks in advance. This is so that we can organize volunteers and confirm that we will be able to attend.
How do we prepare for the Zen Den at our event?
The only thing the sponsoring organization will need to do is provide the location for the Zen Den. Typically, we bring the pop up tent for outdoor events. We have also used a classroom indoors that is nearby the main events.
Where will the Zen Den be located at our event?
The Zen Den should be where the action is taking place, but removed from a DJ, stage, or otherwise louder than average area. The idea is that people with various sensory needs are included in the event, but have a quieter place to retreat to as needed.
How much does the Zen Den cost?
The Zen Den is a volunteer based service that CSEPAC members provide for the community. We provide this service at no cost to event organizers.
